FRANK ALSTON SR. Obituary

In Loving Memory of Frank V. Alston, Sr.

Sunrise September 14, 1954 - Sunset November 1, 2024

Born on September 14, 1954, to Deacon Johnnie Sr. and Deaconess Velma Alston, Frank V. Alston, Sr. peacefully departed this life at his home on November 1. A true man of God, Frank was rooted in love and unwavering in his devotion to his faith, which guided him throughout his life.

Affectionately known as Pee Wee, Camera Man, Preacher, Bishop, Daddy, and Papo, Frank was a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights. He was the fourth of seven children, attended Lincoln Elementary and Washington Junior High, and graduated from Bloom High School. From an early age, he embraced his faith, being baptized under the guidance of Pastor J. A. Causey.

Frank worked as a Mental Health Technician at Howe Development Center in Tinley Park for 23 years and dedicated his life to serving his community. Frank led the Audio and Visual Ministry at St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he mentored young members of the congregation. His creativity and talents as a photographer and videographer afforded him the opportunity to create cherished memories for special occasions, as well as memorial videos for grieving families.

His commitment to service extended beyond the church; he served on the board of the Thorncreek Sanitation Department and was essential in establishing the Vessels of Hope and co-hosted the annual Senior Holiday Party.

In addition to his service, Frank enjoyed fishing, bowling, photography, and spending time with his beloved wife. He cherished his time with his family and found joy with his grandchildren, including flying kites and Wednesday shenanigans with his grandbaby, Lyric Symone.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Tina Maria Alston, his children, Mekeba Warnell, Paul Clark, Frank Jr. (Myrna) Alston, Caprice Clark, Frank Carnell (Dahlia) Alston, Matthew Alston, Christina Alston, Crystal (Spenser) Alston-Nobles, Paige (Travis) Harris, 40 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, his brother Deacon William Alston, sister Rosemary Alston, and host of family and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Johnnie Sr. and Velma Alston, brothers, Johnnie Jr. Alston, David Alston, Jeffery Alston, and sister Vanessa Alston.

Frank V. Alston, Sr. will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, service, and love. His passing has created an immeasurable void in the lives of all who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
