Frankie Sharon Amos
was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on February 19, 1949, to the late Willie B. and Archie King Amos. Frankie entered eternal rest on May 8, 2023.
Frankie was baptized at a young age at Union Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Floyd P. Piper. She was an active member of the Youth Choir, Sunday School, and Baptist Training Union.
She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Washington Jr. High School and graduated from Bloom Township High School. Frankie later attended Prairie State Jr. College where she majored in accounting. Her education led her to a professional career in Accounting for First Federal Bank of Chicago. In the fall of 1997 Frankie joined New Hope Baptist Church under the pastorage of Bishop Matthew H. Amos. She served as a faithful member of the Intercessory Prayer Team, Sunday School Teacher for the Beginner’s class, Pastors Aide, Inspirational Choir, and the Hospitality Committee. Frankie loved being of service to bereaved families during repasts: preparing and serving meals and speaking words of comfort.
Frankie cherished decorating for the holidays, baking cookies, and collecting angels. She now rests among the heavenly angels.
Frankie was passionate about her family and taking care of children. She was a surrogate mother to her younger siblings, nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces, as well as other youth. She was a foster mother to Clyde Dampier whom she raised from a young boy to manhood. She made a difference in the lives of all the young people she encountered. During our “Amos Family Dinner” Prayer calls, Frankie always reminded us to A.S.A.P., “Always Say a Prayer”.
Frankie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents: Willie B. and Archie King Amos. Siblings: Willie B. Amos, Jr., Jeffrey Dwayne Amos, Anthony B. Amos, Angeline D. Amos Heyes, Alfreda J. Amos DeJan-Wootson, Tonya Amos-Mitchell, and Jacqueline E. Amos Wright-Snodgrass.
