PATRICIA S HOLLIS

Patricia Hollis was born on December 11, 1942, to Sallie and Samuel Branch in Chicago, Illinois. She was loved immensely by her family and friends.  Her personality was vivacious, and she rarely met a stranger.  

Patricia converted to Catholicism while attending St. Elizabeth Elementary School.  She graduated from DuSable High School in 1960 where she was an honor student. After graduating from high school, Patricia attended Malcom X College.

Shortly after high school she married Wayman Hollis.  She had one beloved daughter Robin Hollis.  The bond between Patricia and her daughter was inseparable.  She was blessed with a granddaughter, Destiny Hollis, that she valued as one of God’s greatest gifts.  

While Patricia’s career spanned a few industries, she fell in love with community service and spent many years working for the YMCA, as Director of the agency’s Home Healthcare Department. She believed in uplifting those in need.  She instilled the value of education and service in everyone she encountered.

On January 9, 2024, Patricia’s battle with COPD ended when our Lord called her home.  While the hole left by Patricia’s absence is impossible to fill, we celebrate the life she lived and the people she touched along the way. To God be the glory for allowing us to experience her love.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, sisters (Mary Bones, Dorothy Tribbitt), brother (Ronald Branch), and brother/nephew (Donald Bones).  She leaves the following to cherish her memories: daughter (Robin Hollis), granddaughter (Destiny Hollis) sister/niece (Barbara Moore), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
